Flat seas and 20 metres visibility. I bet there are some doubters out there who would never have guessed that the conditions would be so good after all the rain we’ve had.
Well, believe it or not, that’s the conditions we’ve had on the HMAS BRISBANE at the end of last week and over the weekend.
We’ve also had a good 15 metres viz at Wobby Rock and Fairyland on the Gneerings.
Heaps of bait fish over Fairyland and lots of life in general.
Those who put a lot of faith in the long range weather predictions would have noticed that the predictions have been changing by the day. We do look at these but there’s nothing like checking out the predictions the afternoon before and then taking on board what conditions have been like before we make our decision whether to dive or not. In spite of all the poor weather and negative predictions, we have had some great dive conditions of late. There have been some cancellations when conditions are not safe however, some good diving has been there for the taking.
We’ll hope the clear water stays around now for a while and that we get a good run with the weather over the Christmas break.
We will be open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and News Years Day.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and remember to,

Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 5th December - 12th December 2010
Some divers have all the luck. They book in for a dive and the weather is absolutely perfect with great viz and plenty to see.
On the other hand, we have customers who just can’t take a trick. Every time they book for a dive, they seem to crack a day when the weather goes pear shaped and the dive has to be cancelled. This Saturday will be a day like that and although the wind looks like it will drop out on Sunday, the sea still may be a problem.
Conditions are looking good for next week though with from Tuesday onwards looking good.
We have been out to the HMAS BRISBANE a few times this week although it has been a bit sloppy on top, once under the surface, it has been a different ball game. Viz has been up to 15 metres and down to 8 metres during the week.
VANUATU was GREAT. We ate some great food, (Santo beef is simply fantastic), although Bruce is no longer with us, sad to say, at Hideaway Island his fish curry lives on and was a real hit. We had a lot of laughs. What a great group of people to take away on a trip. We did some great diving with a great night dive on the drop off on Hideaway, fantastic diving at Tranquility and then the Coolidge to finish off the trip. Yes, it was well worth it and I’m sure all who were on board would do it all over again. I might step over the gear bag next time rather than falling over it, that’s probably the only change I’d make.
