Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 16th - 23rd March 2011

The tragedy in Japan now dominates the news and rightly so. What a disaster. What a mammoth job to sort and rebuild. Our hearts go out to all of those suffering through this terrible turn of events. Latest HMAS Brisbane Weather Forecast

The media has done a great job keeping the public informed about our problems with the weather here in Queensland but…. Not all of Queensland is affected. The Sunshine Coast has only felt the repercussions through cancelled bookings as people think the whole place has been devastated. I’ve got some GOOD NEWS. The Sunshine Coast hasn’t been affected at all. We’ve had some wind and rain but it’s life as usual here with no flooding or other damage at all.

Amidst the foul weather we’ve been experiencing State wide, we’ve and some great weather here. There have been days where the diving conditions and weather has been absolutely fantastic. This week and weekend is a great example of that. The wind has dropped, the seas have flattened and the fish life around is simply amazing. Visibility has continued to fluctuate from not so good to very good but what you may miss out on with the viz being down a bit at times is certainly made up for by the abundant fish and marine life, particularly around the HMAS BRISBANE.
“HMAS BRISBANE is an amazing site, always something new to see”. Chris Davey Brisbane 12.03.2011

Bookings are heavy for the weekend although there are still a few spots available and trips are planned every day during this week so grab a hold of this window of good diving weather and don’t miss out.
Keep your eyes peeled on the Channel 7’s Great South East at 5.30pm on Sundays. They will be doing an Anzac Day special within the next couple of weeks, featuring the HMAS BRISBANE. Don’t miss it. As soon as we hear a confirmed date, we’ll pass the info on.

Local diver and renowned videographer, Matt Guest recently went to Truk Lagoon with the ABC to film a documentary on the Japanese World War 11 wrecks there. This will be screened on Foreign Correspondent soon. There is some amazing footage that Matt has shot, keep your eyes peeled for this one. It was to be aired last night but the current situation in Japan was a priority so it may be a week or so before it goes to air.
Hope to see you on a dive with us soon,

Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 7th - 14th March 2011

Well the weather did hold during last week but went a bit “pear shaped” for Saturday and Sunday. Latest HMAS Brisbane Weather Forecast

On Friday the viz had improved to 15 metres but unfortunately we had to cancel dives on the weekend due to the wind and sea conditions.

Seas should be back to diveable conditions by Thursday so after the south-easterly blow, we’re hoping that the viz has cleared up again on the the EX-HMAS Brisbane.
Our Truk lagoon dive trip is not far away now. Divers heading off with Tony on that trip, remember that the special wreck course for you guys is on 19th & 20th March. If you haven’t booked yet, it would be wise to get in soon so you can do that little bit of pre-reading for the course.

We’re heading to Moreton Island on 10th April to dive Flinders Reef. This reef looks like part of the Great Barrier Reef has been key holed out and dropped off the tip of Moreton Island. Being a Marine Park it is protected hence marine life is abundant and water is usually very clear.

Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 1st - 8th March 2011

Calm seas are a reality around the EX-HMAS Brisbane. What great surface conditions for diving we’ve had these past days. Visibility has fluctuated from 4 to 5 metres up to 15 metres and water temp has been 26C-27C. Latest HMAS Brisbane Weather Forecast

On occasions we’ve found it to be a bit cloudy for the first few metres but under that the visibility has opened up to a good 10-15 metres over the past week.
Sea conditions should hold through most of this week, for the morning diver, with hardly any swell at all. With the conditions changing every few days of late, don’t miss out on the great conditions available now.

Keep an eye out for Channel 7’s Great South East show on Sundays at 5.30p.m. We were privileged to asked to take their team out to dive the HMAS BRISBANE for a special ANZAC special.
It will be screening soon.

Don’t miss the 20 % off Cressi wetsuit sale that is currently running. Due to the strong Aussie dollar, prices on these suits have dropped over the past months. In addition to this we are offering a further 20% discount while stocks last.

Dive HMAS Brisbane Report 21st - 28th February 2011

We’ve had some great dives out at the HMAS BRISBANE these past few days with up to 20 metres viz. Latest HMAS Brisbane Weather Forecast

(today Monday). It has been a bit dirty on top but clear a few metres down. Big barracuda, a Leopard shark, huge bull ray and lottsa fish. Truly, still a great dive and different every time, that’s what makes it such a remarkable dive that divers come back time and time again.

A bit of wind is predicted for the next few days so that will but a stop on the diving for a couple of dives but hopefully we’ll be back in the water for the weekend.

Wetsuit prices have recently been reduced due to the strong Aussie dollar but we have gone one step further and reduced prices a further 20% while stocks last.

There are a couple of dive computer specials on offer too if you are in the market for a top line Oceanic VT3 or Atom2, check the dive centre for details.
